PDX Vox is about bringing vocal music into people’s lives.
We use music as a tool for having fun and relieving stress. Staying engaged with creative learning. Feeling good and getting better. Building a community of music lovers. Improving the quality of life for all types of people.
Singing in Community:
Our core program is our a cappella singing groups: non-audition, low-pressure, fun classes where singers of all levels can improve their singing, try new things, and work creatively with other singers as a team.
Bringing Music into Healthcare Settings:
We provide musical performances and experiences to assisted living residences and hospitals, and we partner with music therapists to provide clinical services within healthcare settings.
Offering Workshops, Coaching Sessions, and Special Events:
We offer a wide range of one-time music workshops throughout the year, and we are available to coach individual singers and vocal groups and to lead customized workshops to organizations.
See us in action!
The approach to the performances is to view them as learning opportunities and celebrations of our progress. The shows we present at the end of the semester are low-key events for family and friends. They are free and open to the public.
There are many ways to be part of the PDX Vox community:
You can sign up for a group or workshop. Come to our free open houses in September and February. Attend one of our shows or if you are a music therapist or a musician with experience playing music in healthcare settings, apply to be on our healing musicians’ roster.
