3 Chords and the Truth — Simple Tools for Writing Songs [FULL]: In this class, we’ll work through several activities that will get your musical and lyrical ideas flowing as well as help you frame these ideas within a song structure. We’ll do a fair amount of writing in class, and you’re encouraged to write outside of class, too. The intention is to create an energizing, non-judgmental space to explore the process of building a song. You will also have the option of sharing your songs-in-progress during our 3rd meeting. If you have an instrument that will help with the writing process, please bring it; if not, there will be a guitar and a few small keyboards available to use.

7:00 – 8:30pm
Location: Valley Community Pres. Church, 8060 SW Brentwood, Portland

Vocal Coaching and Seasonal Song Salon

Four times a year, the PDX Vox instructors offer vocal coaching packages to individuals, duos and small groups who want to work on 1-2 songs with an experienced guide and get them performance-ready. We offer a package of 3 hours of individual coaching plus one group class that is a low-key performance. The total cost per group is $200. So, if a quartet decides to work on 1-2 songs together, the cost is $50 per person. (There is an additional fee of $15 per coaching session if instructors are required to travel to the coaching session.)

Winter Salon: Saturday, Feb. 3rd, 7pm
Spring Salon: Saturday, May 19th, 7pm

The song salon is a great way to improve and focus your singing, with specific goals and a built-in performance deadline.
